Dad accused of assaulting infant son; baby has life-threatening injuries (Newport, Michigan)

Dastardly Dads - Wed, 02/06/2013 - 12:41
Contrary to fathers rights propaganda, mothers are held to a much higher standard than fathers. Notice that Mom may lose her parental rights, even though DHS doesn't believe she was involved in the assault on this infant. Fathers are very seldom held accountable in those cases where the mother was the sole abuser.

The abuser dad is identified as TYLER LEE STONER.

Father Faces Child Abuse Charges

By Ray Kisonas
Tuesday, January 29, 2013, 01:29 p.m.

A teen-aged father accused of shaking his infant son, causing life-threatening injuries, was arrested at the hospital where the baby reportedly is being treated, authorities said.

The Monroe County Prosecutor’s Office issued a warrant charging Tyler Lee Stoner, 18, of Frenchtown Villa Mobile Home Park in Newport with first degree child abuse, a felony that has a maximum penalty of life in prison upon conviction.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office reported that Mr. Stoner was arrested in Ohio at the hospital where his 6-week-old son remains listed in critical condition with severe head injuries.

Mr. Stoner is being held in the Lucas County jail and will be brought here once he legally can be transferred to Michigan.

Sheriff’s detectives reported that on Jan. 19, Mr. Stoner was caring for the child while the baby’s mother slept.

The parents, who are not married, took the infant to Mercy Memorial Hospital when he became unresponsive. He eventually was transferred to a Toledo hospital.

In addition to severe head injuries, the baby suffered broken ribs, authorities reported.

Since the incident, probate court officials ruled that the father was not allowed to have contact with the infant.

The hospital where he was arrested also had banned him from visiting the child.

The Michigan Department of Human Services is seeking to terminate the parental rights of both parents, even though the mother was not believed to be involved with the assault.

She is allowed supervised visits with her son.

Jacksonville man held on abuse charges after child injured

Posted: January 28, 2013 - 12:40pm | Updated: January 28, 2013 - 5:20pm

By Dan Scanlan

A 28-year-old Westside Jacksonville man was arrested Friday on two charges of aggravated child abuse after a little girl was hospitalized with a rib fracture, internal injuries and bruises on her stomach and back, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

Tommy Deangelo Butler remains behind bars in the Duval County jail on $100,000 bail, jail records show. A second person also was arrested, but the name was redacted on the arrest report.

A state Department of Children and Families investigator summoned officers to Wolfson Children’s Hospital about 9 p.m. Friday as the child was being operated on for the injuries, police said.

Officers spoke with the girl’s mother, who said the child had begun throwing up and feeling sick after being cared for by her father and someone else earlier in the week. Investigators questioned Butler and the other person after speaking with other people who care for the child, then arrested them, police said.

Homeless Man With Hatchet Saves Woman From Giant Racist

STRANGE CRIMES - Wed, 02/06/2013 - 12:08
California - A homeless hitchhiker in West Fresno, Calif., may have saved two people’s lives Friday after they were attacked by a giant, epithet-spewing racist who claimed to be the reincarnation of Jesus Christ.

The bizarre series of events unfolded around 2 p.m. on Friday after 54-year-old Jett Simmons McBride drove his car into the back of a black electrical worker and pinned him to his utility truck.

“I’m Jesus Christ and I can do anything I f***ing want to do,” he supposedly told Kai, a hitchhiker he’d picked up, right before slamming into the man.

Apparently intent to finish him off, McBride stepped out of his truck and tried yank him out from between the two vehicles. All along, he spewed more weird racist rants: He was Jesus reborn, and he was here to remove “ni**ers” from the face of the Earth.

Tanya Baker, an eyewitness, ran over to try stop him. McBride responded by smothering her in a bear hug.  Full Article

Accused police impersonator says arrest stemmed from misunderstanding

STRANGE CRIMES - Wed, 02/06/2013 - 11:57
South Carolina – Jason Stoddard, a 32-year-old videographer and director, said the whole episode stemmed from a playful prank in which he pulled over a good friend while driving a prop car designed to look like a police cruiser.

The joke backfired when his friend got scared, bolted and called police in a panic, he said.

With her help, Stoddard said, he’s now trying to clear his name and get the criminal charge dismissed.

“It was the worst misunderstanding of my entire life,” he said Monday.

A Charleston police report, however, indicates that the woman positively identified Stoddard and the car as being involved in the traffic stop that frightened her.

The woman also told officers she did not know Stoddard, police spokesman Charles Francis said. Full Article

Grandmother who threw rowdy kids from grandson’s sleepover is arrested

STRANGE CRIMES - Wed, 02/06/2013 - 11:56
Connecticut – Barbara Aiello, 71, was charged with two counts of risk of injury to a minor after booting the boys, ages 10 and 11, from her Middletown home early Sunday.

Police said it was 4:30 in the morning and the temperature outside was 23 degrees. Aiello claimed she didn’t realize how late it was when she kicked them out.

The Connecticut grandma – fed up with her grandson’s boisterous sleepover party – was thrown in jail after she booted two young boys from her home.

Police say Barbara Aiello, of Middletown, endangered the boys’ lives when she kicked them out around 4:30 a.m. Sunday and into the cold. The 71-year-old was charged with two counts of risk of injury to a minor and is set to appear in court Monday, according to NBC Connecticut.

Aiello told the station that she ousted the boys, ages 10 and 11, in a fit of rage when they became too rowdy.

“I said everybody out,” Aiello recalled. “I opened the door, not thinking, not realizing the time. I was angry and said, ‘Go home.’” Full Article
