Dad rents out infant son to pedophile (New Zealand)

Bay children abused in paedophile ring
Corey Charlton 6th Feb 2013 8:39 AM

The manipulations of Aaron John Ellmers were a carefully designed betrayal of trust.

He planned and plotted ways to steal children away from their parents so he could abuse them and then trade images of his crimes around the world.

The most sickening breach of trust was his last, he found a father willing to rent out his 13-month-old son for Ellmer's perverse use for $500.

As the 40-year-old paedophile jetted into Christchurch to meet the baby's father, police were waiting. At the Hastings District Court yesterday the Hastings man pleaded guilty to dozens of charges associated with abusing four children, aged 13 months to 13 years.

The father, 27, has been arrested. Also facing charges is an Auckland man who received images of abuse from Ellmers.

The specialist police team which first identified Ellmers (Oceanz - Online Child Exploitation Across New Zealand) has passed on 35 separate sets of details to law enforcement agencies around the world, traced through the illicit online traffic of the men facing charges.

Detective Senior Sergeant John Michael said he hoped it would be enough to stop images of the four Kiwi children Ellmers photographed himself abusing from joining the international traffic in child pornography.

But it could be that the chance to stop the spread of images has gone. "We can identify the first points ... subsequent ones, we won't be able to identify them."

Ellmers was convicted in Australia of raping an 8-year-old boy. Deported in 2008 after 18 months in prison, he later told detectives the prison sex offenders' course gave him new tools which he used to coerce children.

Ellmers wasted no time, according to court documents. In a conversation recorded in a Christchurch motel room in October 2012, as he waited for a baby to abuse, he spoke of a friend's 7-year-old boy to whom he had access since 2008. "He explained that the father trusts him with the boy," the court record said, before detailing awful abuse which had taken place since the boy was 3.

In the same conversation, Ellmers spoke of a 12-year-old victim, who he had abused for three years. He used alcohol, cannabis and payments of $100 a time as tools to engineer the abuse. Another victim, now 15, had also been the subject of abuse for two years.

It took a long time to get a father's trust, Ellmers was recorded saying, detailing how he lurked on children's online chat groups. He detailed how to manipulate children's trust, how the games of childhood could be perverted for a paedophile.

In the case of the 13-month-old he travelled to Christchurch for, the father was no obstacle but an accused fellow abuser he met online. Court documents show police found Ellmers had collected and traded thousands of images and movies of children being abused.

Mr Michael said images of fresh victims were valuable currency in the international sex trade in children.

"There are images out there and movies out there that have been circulated for a long time. What keeps it going is the demand for new material." He said the case showed the extraordinary steps some would take to secure children for abuse.

"If we look at the warning message to parents, it is 'don't be alarmed by this but be alert for suspicious behaviour'."

He accepted Kiwis might be surprised at the existence of domestic victims, as was he when he set the unit up in 2009.

"Everyone had thought it was an overseas phenomenon. But I guess we're like every other Western country."

Judge Bridget Mackintosh sent Ellmers for sentence in the High Court at Napier in May.

The Crown prosecutor, Steve Manning, said the abuse was at the "highest end of child sexual offending in this country".

Only the High Court can impose a sentence of preventive detention.

That would mean Ellmers would be sentenced to a minimum term, and only be released thereafter if authorities were satisfied he no longer represented a significant risk to the public.

Dad held for sexual assault of 6-year-old daughter (India)

Father held for sexual assault of six-year-old daughter

A 36-year-old man was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting his six-year-old daughter in his home, the Jeevanbimanagar police said.

The mother filed a complaint against her husband, who runs a laundry business, on Monday morning, following which the child was taken to Bowring Hospital. The alleged abuse happened last Tuesday after she went to bed, the mother told the police on Sunday.

The couple, which hails from Ramasamudram in Madanapalle in Andhra Pradesh), has two daughters, aged six and 10. Narrating what happened, the mother said she was awakened by her daughter’s screams that night. The child and the father were sleeping on the floor while she and the older girl were on the cot. The mother said the light was on and she caught her husband in a compromising position.

Bloodstains

Her worst fears were confirmed when she spotted bloodstains on the sheet. Soon, her daughter complained of pain in her lower abdomen. When she took her child to the gynaecologist in her area, he recommended a private hospital nearby.

The hospital confirmed the sexual assault on Sunday evening and the mother went to the police. Later that night, the father was arrested.

Earlier instances

The official complaint was registered at the J.B Nagar police station on Monday morning. The anguished mother said when she confronted her husband, he denied everything. Since the incident, her daughter apparently reported to her about earlier instances where her father’s actions had made her uncomfortable, and he had told her to keep this from her.

“From what the police have conveyed, he has admitted that he had attempted to sexually abuse her earlier as well,” she told The Hindu.

Worried about future

Sitting shyly on her mother’s lap, her older sister holding her hand for comfort, the victim was listening to her mother narrate the traumatic events of last week. She has not been going to school for the past one week. Her older sister said she keeps getting asked questions about her sister’s absence. “I just tell that them she is not well.”

The mother said she is now more concerned about her daughters’ future. She is trying to secure a job so that she can support them. “I don’t want to go back to our laundry business as people will question me about what happened and why my husband may not be working there,” she said, adding that she wants to move home to another location.

‘Punish him’

“I grew fearful on Saturday night and replaced the cot with a double cot so that both my daughters could sleep with me while my husband slept on the floor.”

Asked why she did not report the incident earlier, she said she was worried about the stigma. However once the doctor confirmed the abuse, she filed the complaint.

“I don’t care if my husband continues to stay in jail. I want him to be punished for this act,” she told The Hindu.

Father indicted on 5 counts of sexual abuse by parent

2 days 15 hrs ago
 Rachel Dove-Baldwin Staff Writer

WILLIAMSON — A Varney resident who was formerly employed as a CPA for Patriot Coal has been indicted on five counts of sexual abuse by a parent, guardian or custodian, and has been incarcerated since Aug. 3, 2012, when he was first arrested on these allegations.

Robert Ryan Hager, 40, was taken into custody following an investigation by Trooper Matheny and Trooper 1st Class Hensley of the West Virginia State Police (WVSP), after they were notified by a Child Protective Services (CPS) worker with the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR) that the defendant had been accused of sexually abusing his juvenile daughter.

Hensley provided information that the defendant reportedly admitted to the officer that he had made sexual contact with his young daughter on at least five separate occasions, between the dates of May of 2011 and June of 2012. This occurred during his arrest and booking process.

The statute of the five counts of sexual abuse by a parent against Hager state that if any parent, guardian, custodian of, or other person in a position of trust in relation to a child under his or her care, custody or control, engages in or attempts to engage in sexual exploitation of, or in sexual intercourse, sexual intrusion or sexual contact with a minor shall be guilty of a felony, and upon conviction thereof, shall be imprisoned in a correctional facility not less than 10 nor more than 20 years, and can be fined not less than $500 nor more than $5,000.

Hager appeared in Circuit Court for his arraignment process after being indicted, and was represented by Attorney Marsha Webb-Rumora for this process only. He will either be assigned another public defender for his March 26th trial date or will be required to retain one himself, depending on his financial status. Judge Michael Thornsbury made the decision to leave Hager’s bond set at $50,000 full-cash considering the serious nature of the crime, the same amount that was set after his initial arrest by Chief Magistrate Dallas Toler.

Hager was transported back to the Southwestern Regional Jail at Holden where he will remain unless conditions and requirements of his bond are met.

Dad on trial for killing 5-month-old son (Gainford, England)

Gainford father accused of shaking his son to death takes to the stand

5:56 pm Wednesday 6th February 2013 in Barnard Castle News

By Duncan Leatherdale

A FATHER has launched his defence against accusations he shook his baby son to death.

Lee Clark took to the stand for the first time in his trial at Newcastle Crown Court today (February 6).

The 28-year-old denies the manslaughter of five-month-old Charlee, who died from a bleed in his brain in March, 2011.

The jury heard Mr Clark was alone with his son at their home in Neville Close, Gainford, County Durham, for an hour-and-a-half on the morning of Friday, February 24, 2011, between Charlee’s mother Natalie Holmes leaving and Mr Clark’s mother Jeanette Palmer arriving to babysit her grandson.

In that time Mr Clark said his son was unsettled because he was missing Ms Holmes, but did not cause him any concern.

He left his son to his mother’s care while he joined Ms Holmes shopping in Darlington, but when his then-fiancée returned home she noticed he was acting strangely and he was rushed to hospital where he later died.

Prosecutor Andrew Robertson accused Mr Clark of losing his temper with Charlee because of the baby’s ill temper, and said it would only have taken 10 to 20 seconds of vigorous shaking to cause the injuries, a charge Mr Clark vehemently denied.

The prosecutor also accused Mr Clark of realising he had killed his son, which is why he had asked a nurse if shaking Charlee could have led to the injuries.

Mr Clark said a nurse had already told him that non-accidental injury could have been a cause, and the only possible way he could conceive of Charlee being injured was when he was being gently bounced on Mr Clark’s knee.

The court has previously heard that Charlee died after suffering bleeding in his eyes and brain which an investigating doctor said was probably caused by a trauma.

But in today’s hearing leading forensic pathologist and shaken-baby expert Professor Milroy said the injuries can occur naturally and are far from “absolute proof” that the child was shaken.

He added that in shaken cases there would usually be other injuries, such as broken ribs or bones, but apart from two bruises on his knees Charlee had no other injuries.

Also giving evidence today, Ms Palmer said she probably caused the bruises when she caught Charlee’s legs in his baby swing while she was trying to remove him, a possibility supported by Prof Milroy.

The trial continues.

Baby girl assaulted by father succumbs

TNN Feb 7, 2013, 05.51AM IST

DHARWAD: A one-year-old girl battered by her father succumbed on Tuesday night.

Rameshwari battled for life at Hubli's KIMS Hospital for a month after being hurled to the floor by her father, Ramesh Sunagar, who was angry at the birth of a girl child.

Doctors at the special children's ward of the hospital said Rameshwari had been responding well to treatment. However, her health suddenly deteriorated on Sunday.

Pediatrician Dr T A Shepur told TOI: "She had been admitted with multiple fractures in the ribs and internal bleeding. There were burns by cigarette butts inflicted on her by her father. The child was responding to treatment, but on Sunday she started vomiting. We administered oral drops and antibiotics, but that did not help. Further, the child had bouts of epilepsy attacks and went into a coma. There was no recovery, and she died at 9pm on Tuesday."

Ramesh, an alcoholic, had been torturing his wife, Laxmi. The harassment increased after she gave birth to Rameshwari. He allegedly beat their children, a four-year-old son and Rameshwari, several times at their home in Mugad village, 10 km from Dharwad, a fact Laxmi kept from everybody.

On December 22, Ramesh beat up the child and threw her on the floor, causing heavy bleeding. When the incident came to light, child protection officer B Usha got the child admitted to KIMS Hospital and lodged a complaint with Dharwad Rural police.

Ramesh was arrested on charge of attempt to murder and produced before a court, which remanded him to judicial custody. Dharwad Rural police inspector Ramanagouda Hatti told TOI police would now file a murder case against Ramesh.

Rameshwari's body was handed over to her relatives after postmortem on Wednesday. A benumbed Laxmi refused to meet anyone.

Prison for dad who punched 2-month-old son, fracturing six of his ribs (Ukiah, California)

Dastardly Dads - Fri, 02/08/2013 - 17:59
Was there a mother in this home? No mention of one.

Dad is identified as BADYR JABRON DOWDELL.

Men with histories of violence generally don't make good infant caretakers. This isn't rocket science, folks.

Prison term for Ukiah father who broke infant son's ribs

Ukiah Daily Journal Staff

Posted: 02/05/2013 11:58:32 PM PST
Ukiah Daily Journal

A Ukiah man who admitted punching his 2-month-old infant son with such force that six ribs were fractured was sentenced Tuesday afternoon in Mendocino County Superior Court to nine years in state prison.

Mendocino County Superior Court Judge Ann Moorman ordered that the father, Badyr Jabron Dowdell, 25, serve 85 percent of his nine-year prison commitment before he can be paroled, a limitation on credits due to the crime being classified as violent. "I know it's a long sentence but in this case justified," said Moorman during the sentencing hearing.

Six days before jury selection was scheduled to commence, Dowdell finally admitted to having beat the child in April 2012. Dowdell stands convicted of felony child abuse and also of having inflicted great bodily injury on a child under the age of 5 years.

Deputy District Attorney Heidi Larson argued Tuesday for a lengthy prison sentence, contending that Dowdell "has never really acknowledged what happened, nor has he accepted responsibility for what he did to the infant." Larson further argued that the defendant's admission of guilt -- instead of taking the facts before a Mendocino County jury -- should not lessen the consequences. "His infant son suffered six fractured ribs," emphasized Larson.

Dowdell originally claimed to investigators of the Ukiah Police Department that his son's injuries were the result of an accidental fall, and perhaps his subsequent "comforting" pats on the back of the boy.

Moorman listened to Dowdell speak on his own behalf before imposing sentence. "I love my son, and I'm sorry," Dowdell told the judge.

Moorman said a lengthy prison term was also warranted because Dowdell's criminal record at a young age already includes three prior felony convictions in Florida. "One of (his) prior convictions was for resisting arrest with violence," said Moorman.

6-month-old baby injured by father dies of choking

DNA | Feb 07, 2013, 05:04AM IST

Jaipur/ Bikaner: The six-month-old girl from Bikaner, Radha, whose father had chewed off her nose and lips in a fit of rage, died at the Sawai Man Singh Hospital in Jaipur where she was undergoing treatment for a week now. Doctors said the baby died of respiratory complications after her lungs were choked with milk fed to her on Wednesday morning.

On the night of January 26, the Radha’s father Bahadur Singh had attacked her and her elder sister Bhanwari in a fit of rage after a verbal spat with his wife. He had beaten his elder daughter while chewing off Radha’s lips and face who died at the SMS Hospital on Wednesday.

On February 1, the baby successfully underwent two major face reconstruction surgeries and was kept in the intensive care unit as a precautionary measure. Bahadur Singh can now be charged with murder, police said.

Official spokesperson of SMS Hospital Dr Rajesh Sharma said, “The baby died due to respiratory complications.” At around 7:30 am the baby was fed bottled milk by her mother, hospital sources said. The milk accidentally entered the child’s lungs and she lost consciousness soon after due to “aspiration pneumonitis (Inflammation of the lungs and bronchial tubes from breathing in foreign material, usually food, liquids, or fluids from mouth are breathed into the lungs or airways leading to the lungs).

A team of doctors immediately put the child on a ventilator after she was found unconscious. “But the milk spread into her lungs and she could not be saved,” Sharma said.

Radha’s maternal grandfather Hanuman Singh said that the child’s father should be brought to justice.

Father left 2 kids in car after police chase

By Rick McCrabb

MIDDLETOWN — A Middletown man was convicted of child endangering after he allegedly left his two children — ages 9 and 4 — in the car when he jumped out of the car and fled Middletown police following a short pursuit.

Roderick Robinson, 29, of Bonita Drive, was found guilty of those charges, plus eluding and obstructing official business, in Middletown Municipal Court on Wednesday afternoon. He pleaded no contest and was sentenced to 240 days in Middletown City Jail.

On Tuesday, Robinson was pulled over on Roosevelt Boulevard near Wicoff Street because his front license plate wasn’t displayed, police said. After he was stopped, Robinson took off in his vehicle and was chased by a Middletown police officer, said Maj. Rodney Muterspaw of the Middletown Division of Police.

Robinson got out of his vehicle and was chased by police because he had a warrant through Butler County Sheriff’s Office. Police later found Robinson, and when he continued to run, police deployed a Taser and Robinson was arrested.

The case seemed to end there until police reviewed the cruiser’s camera and it showed two children, whom the officer didn’t see, exiting the vehicle as police chased their father, Muterspaw said.

The children told police their father told them: “I’m running. Go to your grandparents.”

After viewing the tape, police shifted the focus of their investigation to the children, Muterspaw said. He said the children were found at their grandfather’s home, a short distance away. Muterspaw said the children were scared, but unharmed.

Muterspaw said after 22 years on the force, he thought he had seen it all. Then he watched the video and saw the children’s heads popping up, and them running away.

“Incredible,” he said.
