Wed, 03/13/2013 - 12:57
More bullsh** Daddy Drama. All he gets is 15 years for kidnapping this child and holding her hostage at gunpoint for 14 HOURS in a police standoff.

Many mothers get more years than that for "failing" to protect their children from idiots like this.

Trenton man gets 15 years for kidnapping daughter

TRENTON – A girl of 12 trembled and cried yesterday as a lawyer read the poignant letter the child wrote to a father watching her via closed- circuit television from the federal prison at Fort Dix.

Assistant Mercer County Prosecutor Stacey Geurds spoke for the girl, who was 8 when her father, Enrique Aviles, kidnapped and held her hostage at gunpoint during a 14-hour standoff with police.

The girl had to be helped to the podium by her mother and the lawyer. She broke into tears as she started to read her letter, in which she called the father “a liar! All you have ever done is make me suffer,’’ the lawyer read.

“You made promises but look where you are now,’’ she said, as Aviles hanged his head, as could be seen on the large television screen in the courtroom. He was wearing an orange prison jumpsuit and sitting near barred windows.

The convict said he’s done much to make himself a better man in the four years he’s already been behind bars. He was sentenced to 15 years to run concurrent with his federal term, meaning he could get out in about 12 years after some time in state prison.

Dad gets probation for waterboarding four children; is this a custodial father? (Jefferson County, Montana)

Wed, 03/13/2013 - 12:48
Dad WILLIAM PROVINCE sounds like a very dangerous man, but he's gonna be coddled anyway.

Did this creepy psycho have custody??? We first posted on this case back in December, and there was no mention of a mother at that time either. Just the "girlfriend."

So what happened to Mom? When you have gun nut who is into domestic violence and inflicting torture on children, you got to wonder about the mother's whereabouts, whether she is alive and safe, and how Daddy managed to secure access to these kids.

Funny how all he gets is probation for all this, when a mother doing the same would be denounced as an unfeeling monster.

Father who waterboarded his sons and two other children as a 'learning experience for them' is given probation

William Province admitted using the technique on four boys as young as 9

Was given two years' probation after reaching a plea deal with prosecutors

Province was arrested after his then girlfriend contacted police

She said he broke her wrist and some fingers as she tried to stop him

Waterboarding simulates drowning and can cause brain damage

By Daily Mail Reporter

PUBLISHED:04:13 EST, 13 March 2013| UPDATED: 04:13 EST, 13 March 2013

A father has admitted waterboarding four children - including his two sons - after claiming it was a learning experience for them.

William Province, 42, pleaded guilty to four misdemeanor counts of endangering the welfare of a child and was given two years' probation.

Province from Jefferson County, Montana, carried out the torture, which simulates drowning, on his nine and 12-year-old sons and two other children aged 13 and 15, according to court documents filed by prosecutors.

His girlfriend at the time said he broke her wrist and some fingers on December 5 when she tried to stop him from punishing the children, court records said.

She said Province straddled each boy with his hands over the child's face and mouth and dumped water on their faces to simulate drowning.

The woman told investigators that the man described it as a learning experience for the boys.

Waterboarding is an extreme form of torture which can result in oxygen deprivation to the brain and lungs.

Prosecutors dropped felony charges that included making threats against public officials and others.

In keeping with the plea agreement, District Judge James B. Wheelis sentenced the man to 180 days in jail for each charge, all suspended.

That amounts to two years of probation, minus the 80 days he has already spent in custody, the Independent Record reported.

Prosecutors said in court records that a witness had reported that the man had body armor, assault rifles and armor-piercing ammunition.

Investigators found some ammunition and three rifles that may have belonged to Province.

Authorities did not elaborate on what kinds of weapons specifically were found or suspected.

Jefferson County Attorney Mathew Johnson said the plea deal was reached after a thorough review of the evidence.

The agreement calls for deferring prosecution of the man on a charge of partner or family member assault.

Police launched a hunt for Province after his girlfriend told them about the punishment.

He was arrested when he exited a plane at Helena Airport on his return from travelling in Alaska.

Gadsden Police Investigate Toddler’s Death; Father In Custody

Posted on: 11:30 am, March 13, 2013, by Claire Aiello, updated on: 11:38am, March 13, 2013

GADSDEN, Ala. (WHNT) – Gadsden Police are investigating the death of a 20-month-old child. The girl’s father is in custody.

Police found the body of a child Tuesday night at the dead end of Plainview Street. They have not officially confirmed she is the missing girl yet.

Police say Tasmine Thomas reported her daughter, Maliyah Tashay Lindsay, missing on Monday, March 11. The woman said her daughter had been missing since March 5, and said the girl’s father, Stephon Lindsay, said he was going to take the child to his sister’s house for a few days.

The mother said she was asleep when Lindsay actually took the child. She said he had returned the next morning when she woke up.

Tasmine said after a week, she told Stephon she wanted to get her daughter. He said he would go with her. Tasmine told police Stephon then left to get gas for his car and pick up Maliyah from his sister. Tasmine called the sister, who said she had not seen Stephon or the baby for several weeks.

Tasmine tried to reach Stephon, but didn’t get a response, so she called police. Police arrested Stephon Lindsay on Tuesday night. He is being held in the Etowah County Jail without bond. Lindsay is not charged with the child’s death yet; he is currently being held for a probation violation.

Father Charged With Injuring 6-Month-Old Baby

March 13, 2013 11:50 AM

BALCH SPRINGS (CBSDFW.COM) – It began when a North Texas hospital contacted police about a seriously injured six-month old child. Early this morning it ended with the arrest of the child’s father.

Medical workers called police in Balch Springs on March 11. They reported that family members had driven an unresponsive baby to a hospital in Mesquite and that the child’s injuries were so severe that he was flown to Children’s Medical Center in Dallas.

As the child was treated for a head injuries, Balch Springs officials began looking into the incident. After several interviews and searching a house in the 11000 block of Seagoville Road authorities felt they had enough probable cause to make an arrest. Balch Springs Police Department Deputy Chief Jonathan Haber explained, “After speaking with a doctor, and CPS (Child Protective Services) and stuff we believe we had enough information and enough probable cause to go ahead and formally charge Mr. Guajardo.”

Haber said this isn’t he first time CPS had been contacted about adults at the house. “I do know they had been out to the residence or dealt with those parents in the past.”

As for the baby Haber said, “He is hospitalized. As far as I know, the last that I have, he is in serious condition. They’re [doctors] waiting to run some additional tests.”

The child’s father, Gregory Guajardo, has been arrested and charged with Injury to a Child/Serious Bodily Injury. Guajardo is being held in the Collin County Jail on a $250,000 bond.

3 Young Children Reportedly Witness Father Kill Their Mother, Fatally Shoot Himself

March 9, 2013 10:08 AM

WATTS (CBSLA.com) — Authorities say three young children watched their father fatally shoot their mother and then take his own life at a home in Watts Friday night.

LAPD investigators suspect the shooting may have been triggered by a domestic dispute but the exact cause is unclear.

Authorities were called to the home on Grape Street after the father allegedly shot a man sitting in a pickup truck outside.

Officers arriving to the scene said the suspect fired shots at them before going inside the house.

An hour later, an 8-year-old boy came running outside while holding a 1-year-old child. A SWAT team member rushed the children to safety.

The suspect’s children told police officers that “their father had shot their mother and then shot himself,” LAPD Deputy Chief Bob Green said.

The father was pronounced dead at the scene.

The mother was transported to a hospital, where she died. The children also have a 3-year-old sibling.

What this kid endured is nothing short of torture....

UPDATE: Victim in child abuse trial testifies against father

Posted: Mar 08, 2013 8:12 AM EST

By Dani Maxwell

By Danielle Lama MADISON (WKOW) -- The victim in a child abuse trial took the stand to testify Friday and described years of abuse at the hands of her father, Chad Chritton.

Chritton is charged with seven counts of child abuse. His 16-year-old daughter, identified as SLC, has been living with a foster family. She left her father's home early last year and was found walking along a road in her pajamas.

Chritton and his wife are accused of starving the child.

SLC testified Friday morning that she was forced to live in the family's basement and a security system left her unable to access a bathroom at times. "I would use like containers if I have to," SLC said.

The prosecution showed her photos of her bed, which she described as moldy. SLC testified her father boarded up windows in the basement because she had broken "rules" in the home about eating food.

Chritton's wife, Melinda Drabek-Chritton, is also charged in this case. SLC testified her father made her obey Drabek-Chritton's rules for food. "I was supposed to ask her for everything and do as she said," SLC testified.

SLC said she was hungry "everyday."

SLC did not make eye contact with her father while on the stand. She testified that her father has choked her and slammed her into walls."I can remember him pushing me to the ground," she said. SLC testified she felt safer in a hospital than at home.

During cross examination, the defense asked SLC about imaginary friends. She told the court she had imaginary friends while she lived in Chritton's house and they had threatened to hurt her stepmother and half brother.

Chritton's attorney William Hayes asked SLC if she lies. "I lied for reasons back then but now I don't," she testified.

SLC's stepbrother, Joshua Drabek, has been charged with sexually assaulting her. The defense pointed out that SLC had changed her story about what happened. Earlier in the day, SLC had testified she told her father and stepmother about the alleged assault, but they didn't believe her.

******** MADISON (WKOW) -- The victim at the center of a child abuse case is expected to take the stand and testify against her father Friday morning.

Chad Chritton is suspected of child abuse and neglect. He and his wife were charged after Chad's 15-year-old daughter was found wandering outside on the street in winter wearing only light pajamas.

Prosecutors say Chritton kept his daughter in the basement with no food or bathroom. Authorities say she weighed less than 70 pounds when they got involved in the case. The 16-year-old has been in foster care for about a year now.

The girl's foster mother testified Thursday, saying the girl has no problems eating now, does not have behavioral issues and is back in school. She did say the girl has trouble trusting others.

The victim is expected to take the stand Friday morning, followed by her younger step-brothers.

Father jailed for 18 years for Edmonton child sex abuse

1:08pm Friday 8th March 2013

in News By Hermione Wright.

The man was sentenced at Wood Green Crown Court today A father found guilty of sexually abusing his daughter and raping his stepdaughter has been jailed for 18 years today.

His victims watched as the Enfield man - who cannot be named - was led silently from the dock in Wood Green Crown Court.

The sexual predator was found guilty last month of nine counts of sexual abuse and rape against the girls in the 1980s – who were both under 13 at the time.

The man – who has since remarried - sexually assaulted his stepdaughter when his younger daughter was watching television in the same room.

When his stepdaughter left home to escape his clutches, he started sexually abusing his daughter in their Edmonton home.

His daughter became emotional and left the court as she heard Judge Rosa Dean decide her father's fate.

The convicted rapist's mother-in-law, who cannot be named to protect the victims’ anonymity, told the Enfield Independent she was pleased justice has been done but said she wishes he had been sentenced for longer.

The jury was unanimous in finding the man guilty of all counts last month following his week-long trial at the court.

He was remanded in custody to give the victims a chance to attend his sentencing, and was told by the judge to expect a “very lengthy” prison term.

By Jack Griffith

A DAD convicted of the manslaughter of his baby son has been jailed for six and a half years.

Simon Hathaway, 32, was sentenced to 78 months in prison for killing his five-week-old son, Jordan, after a jury found him guilty of manslaughter following a three-week trial at Reading Crown Court which finished yesterday (Thursday).

His wife, Anne, was acquitted of wilful neglect of a child.

The couple were living in Colnbrook, Slough, at the time of the death, but had since moved to Hayes.

Jordan was rushed to Wexham Park Hospital hospital on the morning of February 22 2011 in an unconscious state, but doctors couldn't resuscitate him.

He was found to have injuries caused by being violently shaken and being thrown onto a soft surface, as well as fractures to his leg, arm and ankle.

At the conclusion of the trial, presiding High Court judge Mr Justice Simon thanked the jury for their close attention during what was emotive and detailed testimony.

Detective Sergeant David Honeyball of Thames Valley Police said after the ruling: "Throughout this protracted and complex investigation, our focus has always been on gaining justice for Jordan, who suffered horrific and ultimately fatal injuries at the hands of his father."

Custodial dad, step indicted in boy-in-box case (Galveston, Texas)

Father, stepmother indicted in boy-in-box case

Posted on March 8, 2013 at 10:11 AM Updated today at 12:34 PM

GALVESTON — A grand jury has indicted a married couple accused last year of keeping their child locked in a wooden box, authorities said Thursday.

David M. Wieseckel, 42, and Linda S. Schwan, 48, both of Galveston were indicted on charges of injury to a child and unlawful restraint of a child, according to a statement from the Galveston County District Attorney’s Office released Thursday afternoon.

“The injury to a child indictments allege that David Wieseckel choked the child with his hands and that both David and Linda injured him by making him do push-ups,” prosecutor Adam Poole said.

Wieseckel is the boy’s biological father, and Schwan is the boy’s stepmother, Poole said. The boy remains in foster care, said Gwen Carter, a spokeswoman for state Child Protective Services.

Galveston police became involved in the investigation when the boy went missing July 22. Police found him after a three-hour search.

Although police named the boy in an initial statement when he went missing, police later looked for evidence of the possession or promotion of child pornography.

The Daily News doesn’t publish the names of those who might be victims of sex crimes.

The couple has not been charged with sex crimes. An indictment is not a guilty verdict. It means a grand jury heard enough evidence to send the case to trial.

Abused daughter: Dad "made me feel like a waste of life" (Urbandale, Iowa)

Fri, 03/08/2013 - 13:51
Notice that Mom is getting 30 years for not "stopping" the abuse--which is more time than many daddies get who actually murder their kids.

The rapist daddy is identified as JAMES BEAUDRIE.

Abused Daughter Says Father 'Made Me Feel Like a Waste of Life'

James Beaudrie sexually abused three of his daughters, according to court records. He once operated the Gamesip store at Merle Hay Mall, and the family at times lived in the back of the store.

By Deb Belt

James Beaudrie, 37, the man convicted of sexually abusing three of his daughters while the family at times lived in the back of a Merle Hay Mall game store, heard from two of the girls at Friday's sentencing about the pain he inflicted.

The first daughter said she "hated the way we lived," KCCI.com reports. She spoke directly to Beaudrie, saying that "even though you knew it hurt us, you continued to hurt us."

Police said the family shuttled between living at the GameSip store at Merle Hay Mall and motels in the area.

The second daughter said it "made me feel like a waste of life."

In court Friday, Beaudrie apologized for the family being broken apart and his children and wife going through pain, KCCI said.

Beaudrie was sentenced to a total of 50 years in prison with a mandatory minimum serving time of 70 percent of the sentence before eligible for parole.

He also must register for the sex offender registry. He was originally charged with nine counts of first-degree sexual abuse and two counts of child endangerment. In a plea deal reached late last year Beaudrie pleaded guilty to three counts of second-degree sexual abuse.

Beaudrie was told to have no contact with all of his children until March 8, 2018, and at that time it can be extended.

Beaudrie’s wife, Kijua, was sentenced to 30 years in prison for child neglect. Prosecutors say she knew about the abuse but did not stop it.

Kijua Beaudrie, 35, pleaded guilty in September 2012 to three counts of neglecting a dependent person.

According to the Des Moines Register, Polk County prosecutor Frank Severino said Kijua Beaudrie “not only knew that the sexual abuse was going on … but at times actually allowed it to continue” by taking other children and placing them in a different room.

Several of the Beaudries’ nine children reportedly wrote letters asking that their mother not be sent to prison.

Convicted child porn/rapist dad wants to "reconnect" with daughter/victim (Flagler County, Florida)

Sometimes the f***king entitlement these rapist/child porn monsters display--it just takes your breath away.

This guy has the freaking NERVE to want to "reconnect" with the daughter he raped and impregnated and pimped, AND he want a "good lawyer" to sue the county and the judge that put him in prison.

I'm speechless.

Father with sordid past wants help finding daughter

Friday, March 8, 2013 at 1:13 by Frank Fernandez

A letter from a father to the newsroom asking for help in contacting his daughter comes with a dark twist.

That’s because this wasn’t your typical father and this wasn’t your typical father-daughter relationship.

The writer was Alton E. Smith, who lived in Palm Coast before his arrest and subsequent guilty pleas in 2010 to two counts of incest, one count of living off the earnings of prostitution and 52 counts of possession of child pornography. As part of the plea agreement, Smith also pleaded guilty in Volusia County to another charge of incest and lewd and lascivious exhibition in the presence of a minor younger than 16.

Smith fathered his daughter’s son.

Now-retired Circuit Judge Kim C. Hammond sentenced Smith to 15 years in prison followed by 15 years sex offender probation. And once Smith is released from prison he must register as a sex offender.

The sordid situation came to light after a Flagler County Sheriff’s Office detective in 2008 knocked on the door of a house on Carlos Court pretending to answer a Craigslist ad for an escort. Besides having sex with her, Alton Smith was pimping his daughter.

Now, Alton Smith wants to reconnect with his daughter. He also wants a lawyer because , a good one he says, because he wants to sue Flagler County and the judge.

He claims to be dying from the ravages of hepatitis. His biological decay perhaps matching his morality. He said that at 50 he is t0o young too die. He said what went on between him and his daughter was their bond.

“So please Dont Judge us for what happen. This goes on more then people want to know. We new a lot of people who are doing what we were Doing you will never know unless your one of us! We All Have The same Feelings That people wish They had our love Was True Love!”

Dad had babies with his 3 daughters to keep his bloodline 'pure" (New Jersey)

Fri, 03/08/2013 - 13:21
We've reported on this case before.

http://dastardlydads.blogspot.com/2010/03/dad-charged-with-raping-five-daughters.html

Kiri Blakely is correct in that grossly abusive fathers are under reported in the media, while the random abusive mother is sensationalized with national 24/7 attention. However, she does not report that the mother (and the daughters) were moved from house to house frequently, beaten regularly, deprived of food, and threatened with death if they went to the authorities. So it's a little tougher to be judgemental than she lets on.

One of the sickest trials of the year, perhaps of all time, is going on in New Jersey right now. And no one is really paying any attention to it. Certainly not like the attention Jodi Arias is getting. A man named Aswad Ayinde, a video music director who won an award for directing The Fugees' big hit "Killing Me Softly," has been on trial for two years for running a house of horrors where he repeatedly raped his daughters, and had babies with three of them. He apparently did all of this because he thought the world was going to end -- and all that would be left would be him and his "pure" offspring. That excuse ain't gonna fly, sicko.

Ayinde had six daughters and has been accused of repeatedly raping five of them. DNA tests proved he had children with three daughters. One of them had four of his children. Ayinde has already been sentenced to 40 years for raping another daughter with whom he had a child. Ayinde was apparently getting his daughters pregnant -- and delivering the babies himself at home -- in an effort to preserve his "pure bloodline."

He's now on trial for raping the daughter he has four children with. And incredibly, this might be the one he doesn't serve any time for, because incest with a person over 18 isn't illegal in the state of New Jersey (!!), and it's difficult to prove exactly when Ayinde fathered the four children with his daughter, since the children didn't get birth certificates until years after they were born.

The daughter claims she gave birth to her father's first child at age 13. Since Ayinde has already been convicted of the same crime with another daughter, whom he impregnated at 15 and began having sex with at 8 years old, I believe her. Why would he wait until one daughter was of legal age? Please!

Ayinde's defense attorney says that the entire family agreed to this "lifestyle choice" and that "there were no guns to" the daughters' heads. What an idiotic thing to say. The children were brainwashed and never knew any different than what they were handed from the day they were born.

But you have to wonder about their mother, Beverly. She went with her children to the police in 2006 and has testified at the trials -- but WHY did she let it continue for so long?! However, considering that she called her husband "my God" and stayed with him after he told her the "spirits" were telling him to have sex with their 8-year-old daughter, well ... can't expect too much from this woman. But I don't know why she's not on trial too.

Can you believe this?!

Teen boy found chained in basement of custodial dad is now gaining weight, recovering (Clay County, Missouri)

Fri, 03/08/2013 - 12:37
This is the first mention I have seen of the non-custodial mom, who obviously had been stripped of her visitation rights. This is a typical abuser move. After all, if Mom isn't allowed to visit the kids, she can't report any abuse, right?

Still no word here on how this abusive custodial father gained custody, and who enabled that decision.

Dad is identified as DAVID MARTIN.

Bipolar teen found chained up in father's basement has gained 50lbs and is thriving just one month after rescue

By Daily Mail Reporter PUBLISHED:10:57 EST, 8 March 2013| UPDATED:11:55 EST, 8 March 2013

A 17-year-old Missouri boy who was found chained to a pole in his parents' basement four weeks ago weighing just over 100lbs is doing much better these days.

The teenager boasted to a Clay County judge Thursday that he has put on 50lbs, planned to play football and was taking guitar lessons.

The bipolar 17-year-old, whose name is not been revealed due to his age, was discovered February 4 curled in a fetal position and handcuffed to a steel pole inside a Kansas City home after a neighbor contacted social services.

The boy's father, David Martin, 42, and 41-year-old stepmother, Pamela Martin, were arrested and charged with felony restraint and child abuse.

During the hearing this week, the boy's biological mother said that she would like to take her son home, but the judge ordered that he remain in foster care pending a home study to determine if the woman's residence is suitable for the boy to live in, the Kansas City Starreported..

According to her lawyer, the teen's birthmother was unaware of what was happening to her son at her ex-husband's townhouse and would have sought custody had she known.

David Martin, who continues to be held on $50,000 bond along with his second wife, appeared at the hearing Thursday but did not speak.

Meanwhile, the teen at the center of the case told Judge Elizabeth Davis that he is doing well, adding that nowadays he tips the scales at 151lbs.

The high school sophomore went on to say that he is doing weight running and hopes to join the wrestling team and the football team as a running back.

The boy is expected to be back in court May 30 for his next progress report.

Following his rescue in early February, the boy told investigators he had been kept in the basement since his father pulled him out of school in September. Court documents say the boy's weight had dropped from 130lbs to 103lbs.

According to court documents, the Martins told police that the victim is bi-polar and also suffers from attention deficit disorder.

The teen's father said the family could no longer afford to buy medications for the 17-year-old and had run out of options to keep a handle on the boy. Police have not released the names of anyone involved in the case. The teen was placed in the custody of child services. The adults were also living in the home at the time.

Mr Martin added that they had tied him to the pole in order to keep him from running away, and that the restraint only lasted for three weeks.

According to a police report, an officer and social worker arrived in the family's home last week after getting a tip from neighbor Crystal Anderson.

The Kansas City Star reported that while they were inside the residence in the 400 block of North Wheeling Avenue, Mrs Martin told the officer her son was asleep in his basement bedroom.

When they entered the basement, they heard someone cry out: 'I didn't do anything. I didn't do anything. I didn't do anything.'

Officer Jonathan Stone wrote in the report: 'I then observed a thin frail looking male getting out of the fetal position on the concrete floor around a steel support pole.

'The teen was handcuffed to the pole and looked very thin for his height, with a sunken face and eyes that "had a look of desperation."'

He was curled in a fetal position on the cold concrete floor dressed in dirty jeans, a dirty shirt and socks. He continually asked authorities for his jacket and shoes and appeared cold.

After police freed the shivering boy from the manacles and helped him calm down, he said he had been kept in the basement since September, when his father removed him from school.

He said he was initially 'just locked in the basement, but was not fed much.'

The child was allowed to shower once in four weeks, had been denied the use of bathroom for 10-hour stretches and had sores on both his wrists from the handcuffs, according to court documents.

The 17-year-old told police that in October, he managed to get out of the basement and get food, which angered his father, who tried handcuffing both his hands to a bed frame in a 'cross position, but his arms were not long enough.' When police entered the basement of the home, they heard someone cry out: 'I didn't do anything. I didn't do anything. I didn't do anything'

The teen said he managed to take apart the bed in November and used a bed rail to break open the door, but he didn't manage to find anything edible.

The boy told police that this time, David Martin removed the bed from the basement and handcuffed him to the pole.

He told police that his father would wake him each day at 4am to use the bathroom and give him a packet of dried oatmeal.

In the afternoon, he would again be allowed to use the bathroom and would get a packet of Ramen noodles to eat.

Later, he would get two bologna sandwiches and a glass of water before being locked up for the night.

Another adult in the home told police that the teen was 'locked downstairs because in December they let him upstairs and he ate almost an entire bowl of fruit at one time.'

Pamela Martin told police her stepson was allowed to eat dinner with the family and returned to the basement at bedtime.

The woman also said she didn't remove the handcuffs because the teen was 'verbally abusive and would try to kick her.'

Authorities took the teen to a local hospital for treatment. He was immediately placed into the custody of the Clay County Children’s Division. A two-year-old grandson in the home is also in state custody.

Since being sprung from his makeshift jail, the 17-year-old boy has sent a series of messages to the neighbor who led police the the basement where he was being kept.

The boy, whom neighbors have described as childlike, shared with Crystal Anderson how excited he is to be back in school and spoke of dreams to play football, KSNreported.

One message read: 'Thank you for save [sic] me from starving,' the teen wrote in gratitude.

Father guilty of abusing another child

Crimes occurred in 2008 and 2012

HOLLAND, Mich. (WOOD) - A man has been convicted again of abusing one of his infant children.

An Ottawa County jury Friday found 28-year-old Ryan Kupres guilty of first-degree child abuse and being a habitual offender. A verdict came after a four-day trial.

Kupres is scheduled to be sentenced April 15.

He was convicted of violently shaking and injuring his 5-month-old daughter Layla, who was in serious condition for a few days in April 2012. Layla has since recovered from her injuries and appears to not have any lasting effects.

The Ottawa County Sheriff's Department arrested Kupres after finding medical records from a 2008 case in which Kupres pleaded no contest in the abuse of another baby who was his then 3-week-old son he has with another woman. That baby also sustained broken bones. Kupres spent a year in jail for the crime.

Dad accused of 1st-degree murder in death of 5-month-old son (Waukegan, Illinois)

Thu, 03/07/2013 - 16:10
Notice that Mom is charged with endangerment--because she left the baby with Daddy.

You will never see fathers charged for leaving the babies with abusive mothers. It's a total double standard. And yet at the same time, mothers are no longer allowed to "gate keep" who their babies can stay with. Family courts don't like it if moms don't "involve" every deadbeat sperm donor they ever had the misfortune of sleeping with.

Teen Dad Accused Of Killing Baby Seeks Lower Bond

March 7, 2013 6:24 AM

WAUKEGAN, Ill. (STMW) – The teenage father accused of killing his 5-month-old child is asking for a lower bond.

Victor Salinas-Corona, 17, is being held in lieu of $2 million bond for first-degree murder. His bond will be reconsidered at a bond review hearing scheduled for March 11.

The baby’s mother, Aurora Escamilla, 19, appeared before Lake County Circuit Court Judge Raymond Collins for status of preliminary.

Escamilla is free from custody on 10 percent of $100,000 bond. She is charged with endangering the life of a child. She is accused of leaving the infant boy with Salinas-Corona. The infant died as a result of blunt force trauma to the head Feb. 28, authorities said.

Collins signed an order allowing Escamilla to return to the Zion residence in the 2600 block of Horeb Avenue today, March 7, to collect her clothing.

She is not currently staying at the crime scene, Assistant State’s Attorney Marc Bangser said.

Escamilla is due back in court March 27 for status.
