10 Jailed for Malala Yousafzai Attack

Apr 30, 2015

Activist schoolgirl Malala Yousafzai has finally seen justice for the 2012 attack that left her with a bullet in the back of her head and barely clinging to life.

On April 30, 2015, Pakistan convicted and jailed 10 militant extremists responsible for planning the attempted assassination of the 17-year-old outspoken civil rights advocate.

Pakistani authorities acknowledge that the Taliban assailants themselves likely fled the country years ago, but that the group jailed today were guilty of masterminding the plot to silence Yousafzai for her views regarding the right of females to be educated.

All of those conspirators have been sentenced to a minimum of 25 years in prison.

Malala Yousafzai was only a 14-year-old child and riding a school bus when she was gunned down by would-be assassins, which made the cowardly act all the more shocking.

She required months of surgeries and rehabilitation to recover from the brain injury. Two years later she won a Nobel Peace Prize.
