Annual West Point Pillow Fight Marred By Bloodshed in NY

Sep 5, 2015

This year’s annual West Point pillow fight was marred by violence, as some deviant cadets participated in the summer tradition using pillows packed with more than just feathers.

Over 30 freshmen bashed with pillowcases filled with “hard objects” were treated on campus or at area hospitals for injuries ranging from split lips and dislocated shoulders, to broken bones and concussions.

In fact, at least one who suffered head trauma during the lethal version of an otherwise playful ritual hasn’t returned to the Army’s officer-training academy at all; reportedly because he’s not well enough to resume duties.

“We are conducting appropriate investigations into the causes of the injuries,” a school administrator told reporters for the New York Times this week, acknowledging that so far no student organizers have been arrested or punished for their crime.

The pillow-fight probe is as well being undermined by the fact that none of the cadets who took part in or witnessed the bloodshed in August will give their actual names now, for fear of reprisals by their classmates.

The dangerous nature of this year’s annual pillow fight at #WestPoint New York was first discovered in social media posts and videos where those who rigged the event to inflict harm on unwitting participants also bragged about the “body count.”
