Another Getty Grandson Dies Troubled and Young

Apr 2, 2015 - by Denise Noe

Yet another Getty grandson dies troubled, young, and under vexing circumstances.

The full circumstances of the death of Andrew Getty at the age of 47 on Tuesday, March 31, 2015 have yet to be disclosed, but Ed Winter, Assistant Chief of the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office, has said it “appears to be natural or an accident.”

Like a previous grandson of billionaire J. Paul Getty who was brutally kidnapped and died years later in his early fifties, Andrew also appears to have been emotionally troubled.

His body was found by ex-girlfriend Lanessa Grace DeJong -- against whom Andrew Getty had taken out a restraining order on March 16.

The filing for the order alluded to an unnamed “medical condition” Getty suffered and alleged that DeJong knew that “a rise in my blood pressure places me in grave risk of substantial and irreparable injury or death,” further claiming she “has exploited [knowledge of the condition] to demand money and property from me, refusing to leave my house.”

Yet it was DeJong who called 911.

Authorities found Getty naked from the waist down and dead in the bathroom of his Hollywood Hills mansion. He purchased the residence in 1996 and it had many times been the site of turmoil.

Police had been at the home at least 30 times, usually to investigate allegations of illegal drug possession or reports of domestic disturbances.

Nevertheless, authorities report no evidence of foul play in Getty’s death. Winter comments, “The tentative information that we do have is that he was not feeling good for the last couple months.”

The only explanation offered as to how one more super rich Getty grandson dies an unhappy man, and prematurely.
