LA officials say an armed elderly woman, who summoned police to her mobile home and then held them in a 22-hour standoff, is now in custody after attempting to shoot a SWAT bot and surrendering.
The suspect’s motive for luring local sheriff deputies to her greater Los Angeles address at dawn yesterday with “a medical emergency” is not fully understood at the moment, but reportedly no one was injured in the weird confrontation.
Responding officers claim she brandished a firearm and barricaded the door when they first arrived early Thursday morning -- forcing their immediate retreat and calls for backup by other units in the area, as well as a SWAT team.
Although details remain vague as to how exactly the LA armed standoff finally ended this afternoon, the senior citizen suspect was in fact taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, once apprehended.
Her name and health status has not been released yet.
