A fellow prisoner took “some swings” at convicted Colorado theater shooter James Holmes this month while the two were being escorted by a corrections guard.
The mass murderer is serving consecutive life sentences for gunning down dozens of unarmed moviegoers in 2012 -- including a little girl -- and has complained about inmates calling him a “baby killer.”
Convicts like Holmes who abuse and even murder children are considered the ‘lowest of the low’ among the incarcerated, and are therefore nearly impossible to protect from harm.
A penitentiary spokesman said the 27-year-old felon who attempted to assault Colorado’s most reviled criminal on October 8th has multiple convictions himself, most involving violence.
Following their confrontation at the “high-security” prison in Canon City Colorado, he allegedly sent a letter to the Denver Post bragging about it.
James Holmes has only been housed at the facility since September. Officials from the Department of Corrections have expressed doubts that the high-profile baby killer would be totally safe in any jail.
