Police insist the body of a dead toddler found in a shallow ravine this weekend had to have been “placed there.”
Two-year-old Adrionna Williams was just reported missing by her relatives when a woman walking a dog inadvertently came across the child’s fresh remains.
That sad find led investigators to label the girl’s death a homicide, since the distance was too great for such a young person to have wandered to on her own. Especially in only 40 minutes.
"We do not believe the child walked there from her Wilkinsburg home -- it's too far," confirmed a spokesman for the Allegheny County Police Department.
He also said that authorities “do not believe the child was abducted by a stranger."
The street entrance to the wooded locale where Adrionna’s corpse was found had been closed off to traffic for some time, but was still accessible to pedestrians.
Detectives are interviewing neighbors, family and friends in an effort to put a timeline together of the deceased child’s final hours, and further request that members of the public who know or witnessed anything suspicious that day to contact them.
In the meantime, county officials are keeping the results of Monday’s autopsy on the dead toddler confidential, pending additional forensic tests.
