An 11-year-old boy home alone with his toddler sister fatally shot an alleged teenage burglar yesterday.
The young St. Louis shooter is being hailed by some as a hero today for reportedly dropping a young thug who he claims tried three times to break into his residence.
Others in the neighborhood, however, are whispering now of foul play.
Police arrived on Thursday afternoon to find an unidentified 16-year-old lying in a pool of his own blood in the foyer of the house on Hallwood Drive that the youth allegedly thought was going to be easy pickings.
Controversy over the deadly incident has already emerged, though, because at least one eyewitness to the events leading up to the shooting claims the slain teen “never did once go inside the house.”
In fact, both he and his killer “were just arguing loud -- you know, back and forth," she said, and throughout their dispute the so called intruder “was always just sitting right there on the porch.”
Investigators therefore are continuing to probe the deadly confrontation, as well as why an 11-year-old kid and his 4-year-old sister were left alone with access to a loaded firearm.
