BREAKING NEWS: Per the cellphone picture below, Milwaukee police are “taking serious” numerous reports of a lion sighted in or near the downtown district.
A frantic woman was one of many residents who called 911 today to report having just seen a really big cat roaming through certain city neighborhoods.
“I was afraid to move,” she told a reporter for ABC News. “I was sitting there and I couldn’t move,” she said. “I thought ‘what am I looking at?’”
GOOD QUESTION, and, if grainy photographs of the supersized feline aren’t a hoax, then it’s probably a good idea for Milwaukeeans to stay indoors until police can definitively answer it.
The tawny creature in those pics does look to be genuine -- perhaps a mountain lioness -- and about 130 to 150 pounds of pure sinew, too. So nothing for ordinary folks to be messing around with.
“We are treating it seriously. We have got a number of people out there looking,” Milwaukee’s chief-of-police Edward Flynn said concerning the nonstop 911 calls about a large lion at large. “Certainly, something could have come here from upstate following the deer population,” he speculated.
