CONGRESSMAN: Federal Whistleblower Gunman Snapped in NYC

Aug 23, 2015

The NYC federal-building gunman was a noble whistleblower who finally snapped over a longstanding “raw deal” he’d been dealt by the U.S. government, according to a New Jersey congressman.

Friday, 68-year-old Kevin Downing fatally shot a security guard -- and himself as well -- when he attempted to enter a fortified government facility on Varick Street in lower Manhattan and was stopped at the metal detectors.

Allegedly a wronged man with a purpose, he proceeded toward the elevators after gunning down 53-year-old Idrissa Camara who’d asked to see what was in the bag he was carrying.

Before Downing could carry out the deadly mission of revenge, however, another employee intercepted the suspect, at which point he shot himself in the head.

CONGRESSMAN: Federal Whistleblower Gunman Snapped in NYCThis weekend, the lethal confrontation is being probed for ”a motive,” whilst NJ representative Bill Pascrell is informing the press that there is far more to this sad matter than presently meets the eye.

Pascrell attests that, beginning in the mid to late 1990s, he worked closely with Kevin Downing regarding his report of abuse and waste at the Bureau of Labor Statistics where the now-dead shootist was gainfully employed.

In fact, in 1999, says representative Pascrell, Downing’s report about widespread corruption at BLS got the “nonviolent” whistleblower wrongfully terminated, in what both men saw as a clear retaliation for turning in his crooked colleagues and superiors.

And, Pascrell adds, Downing’s been battling those bully officials ever since then, albeit obviously in vain.

By 2013, even the congressman himself had had enough of the stonewalling and abuse Kevin Downing was unjustly being subjected to by the accused bureau and contacted the Department of Labor to denounce the whistleblower’s illegal firing:

“There is evidence to indicate Mr. Downing’s termination was inappropriate,” Pascrell urged in his communiqué, “because it was in retaliation for his communication with congressional staff regarding what he believed to be waste and abuse present in the Bureau of Labor Statistics.”

Today, despite all the head scratching over this week’s fatal shooting at a federal building in NYC’s West Village, investigators have already indicated they know Pascrell’s explanation is the truth.

Why else would they have immediately announced the attack wasn’t terrorism-related?
