Dallas police want to chat with missing man Ronald Shumway about a bag of bones they found under the patio of his recently-sold Oak Cliff home.

Shumway --who’s known in his old neighborhood as cantankerous and eccentric -- suddenly quit his job this spring and unloaded the house he’s lived in for decades “without telling anyone.”

He hasn’t been seen or heard from since then, and his once-active social media accounts have all gone dark as well.

That alone may not be so unusual for a rather unusual-sounding man. However, the discovery last month of a human “ribcage” sealed in a plastic bag and “encased in cement” on his former property has prompted authorities to start looking for him.

A county medical examiner is still trying to identify the partial skeleton unearthed at Ronald Shumway’s previous abode, and, at this time, it’s not thought the bones are those of the missing man, although it can’t be ruled out yet.

A fuzzy timeline is confounding this case considerably, so the Dallas Police Department is urging anyone who can help shed light on Shumway and his relatives, if any, to contact them at 214-671-4268.

Detective Esteban Montenegro of DPD’s Missing Persons Unit can also be reached directly at 214-671-3624.
