Dallas Airport Drug Cartel BUSTED

Jul 16, 2015

A ring of 46 drug traffickers using the Dallas Airport as their main hub of operation was busted yesterday in a sting that federal agents indicate was first launched in 2013.

Among those arrested, four airport "contractors" are accused of providing a critical link for the group to smuggle their illicit products to cities like Wichita, Newark, Phoenix, Chicago, Las Vegas and San Francisco.

According to the criminal complaint, the 46-man dope ring flew meth, heroin and cocaine to all those major destinations and more, via insiders bypassing travel security at the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport.

Management there released a statement on Wednesday asserting they had been aware of the ongoing federal investigation “and cooperated” with the government throughout it. But they denied that any of the arrested airport contractors were actual employees.

"None of the people named in the indictment is employed by DFW Airport," they said.

The referenced indictment papers do not specify in what capacity the suspects worked at the facility, such as that they would be able to constantly thwart discovery of drug shipments in carryon luggage and backpacks.

The FBI, Dallas Police, and the Internal Revenue Service joined forces to set up and then bust up the Dallas airport drug cartel this month -- all 46 accused traffickers face life in prison if convicted.
