Police responded to a desperate 911 call on Saturday morning from a woman who said her husband was distracting their 17 and 22-year-old sons so she could get help because they were “trying to kill them both.”

The phone then went silent, according to the emergency dispatcher for Gwinnet County.

When officers arrived at the Snellville GA residence of Yvonne and Zachary Ervin, they instantly detected “a strong odor of gas” there, but found the injured couple still alive, although bleeding from their wounds.

Two armed youths on the rampage -- their sons -- were holed up inside the besieged dwelling, but officers overpowered the duo and took them into custody.

Cameron Ervin and Christopher Ervin have been charged with felony assault in the attempted murders, as well as for arson. They are each old enough in the state of Georgia to be tried and sentenced as adults.

The suspects’ mother and father remain hospitalized today for multiple stab wounds and blunt force trauma, and are expected to survive.

“There is no official motive at this point, but there has to be something more to this,” a police spokesman told reporters on Sunday. “I'm sure they didn't just wake up and decide to kill their parents yesterday.”
