A Tennessee man who pled guilty in court to attempted murder yesterday told his wife he was sorry for trying to have her killed three times.
Fred Wortman was sentenced to upwards of 30 years in prison for relentlessly pursuing plots to off his spouse which ranged from poisoning her toothpaste to hiring hitmen.
All those efforts failed, so Staci Wortman appeared at Tuesday’s hearing and later expressed relief to reporters -- not for the belated apology, but in seeing that her murderous mate was forced to “face the consequences.”
The dysfunctional couple also has three young children who, Mrs. Wortman claimed, are still deeply traumatized by the knowledge that their father wanted their mother dead.
She called them her husband’s “greatest victims.”
