A young Florida man was shot this morning after he stole a car, fled police, then tried to drown a K9 who pursued him into a swamp.
According to a Tampa law enforcement official, the suspected car thief survived his gun wounds and was transported to a nearby hospital.
The incident occurred at about 2:30 a.m. and involved four “young” people; three of whom were captured without exchanging gunfire.
The fourth, however, had led police on a lengthy foot-chase through marshland and was apprehended there by a K-9 who he then grabbed and attempted to submerge.
A fellow officer shot the youth before he succeeded in drowning the police dog.
Luckily, neither the service canine nor his human counterpart were harmed in today’s confrontation.
