Folks were treated to gunfire at the Waldorf Astoria last night during an accidental discharge of a wedding guest’s firearm.
The bullet only hit the floor, police say, but four people at NYC’s swankiest hotel still suffered minor wounds in the incident, and the shooter himself was apprehended.
Shortly after the unidentified man’s arrest, Manhattan’s chief of detectives William Aubry gave a press conference in front of the hotel.
Aubry told the concerned crowd there that the slug itself wasn’t the actual cause of guests' injuries, but flying shrapnel from shattered glass and similar debris it created when ricocheting through the lobby.
The thought of gunfire at the Waldorf Astoria is pretty alarming though, because the famed establishment is a favorite destination of both foreign and domestic diplomats, including the President and ambassadors from the United Nations.
Today, however, the popular Park Avenue haunt is once again calm and open for business.
