Juvenile killers like the kid who strangled a 4-year-old on Monday in Orlando Florida are becoming way too commonplace this decade.
The one arrested this week though -- if an Associated Press leak can be believed -- presents classic serial killer characteristics in one of the youngest suspects on record.
The disturbed boy’s name has not been released because he himself is a minor, but, prior to slaying the child of his mother’s live-in companion, he nearly succeeded in strangling another toddler before him.
Practice makes perfect, obviously, and this week, when police responded to the homicidal boy’s home via a 911 call about an unconscious toddler with blood oozing from the mouth, his murderous diligence had clearly paid off -- the victim this time died within hours of the fatal attack.
“Some suspicious bruises” gave away the boy’s crime though, as well as “several factors consistent with strangulation,” and, consequently, the unnamed juvenile killer is now in police custody for his less than perfect offense.
While the kid is only 11-years-old, it isn’t the first time he’s been incarcerated for acts of extreme violence, and his mother admitted to investigators that she’s had “problems with her son” pretty much since the day he was born.
In fact, when the boy was only four himself he set his own crib on fire, she said. And, in the years since that event, he’s also been seen carrying around the dismembered limbs of dead animals, in addition to having to be committed to a treatment facility “for sexually deviant behaviors.”
Some sympathy has to go to parents of children like this, however, because it’s probably not only heartbreaking to spawn such perverse offspring, but scary as well.
