Texas police have charged William Hudson, 33, with massacring a family of six over the weekend. His motive hasn’t been disclosed yet.
The killings occurred on a rural Anderson County property bordering the suspect’s that was recently purchased by relatives of the victims -- those landowners are also counted among the dead.
A sole survivor of the campsite massacre was left badly injured and said she played dead for hours before calling 911 once her family’s attacker left the area.
Officials have not revealed any of their causes of death, although sources familiar with the case have suggested they were all shot.
Two were found slain in a camping trailer. Four others, originally thought to be missing, were later retrieved from Hudson’s pond.
A local sheriff said it is the “largest” mass murder he has encountered during his tenure in law enforcement and that Hudson likely acted alone.
Most of the victims hailed from other U.S. regions, some as far away as Maine, and it’s believed that three were juveniles.
William Hudson, who has at least one prior for assault, was charged yesterday with a single count of murder, but additional charges are pending against him.
He’s being held on $2.5-million bond and is “not cooperating” with the investigation.
