A roommate who was the last to see and speak with the “hardworking” undergrad indicated that one minute Singh was there and the next he was gone:

“I looked for him and he was not there,” the young man said.

New Zealand police repeatedly searched for the 20-year-old Indian-born culinary student, including sending divers to the bottom of the harbor at least twice, but couldn’t find him either.

Last weekend, however, an unidentified male was found drowned in Queen’s Wharf, some distance from the Bungalow 8 Bar where Singh had been observed dancing before he disappeared.

Investigators have since confirmed the body they retrieved from the waterway is that of Mandeep Singh, and again stated their belief that his missing persons case -- and death -- is “not suspicious.”
