A missing White House chef found dead last night apparently hadn’t strayed very far from where he’d parked his car to hike a mountainous trail near Taos Ski Valley in New Mexico.
Searchers finally discovered the body of 61-year-old Walter Scheib after he had been gone without a trace for over a week, but aren’t revealing any other details at this time, including a possible cause of death.
Investigators say they are still gathering information from the area the professional cook perished in -- beside a rugged footpath that leads to a steep 3700-foot incline.
It’s not clear if Scheib wandered off the main trail because he was lost or injured, or was led away by someone, to his peril.
The girlfriend of the missing White House chef found dead yesterday first notified police about his puzzling disappearance on June 13, 2015. However, rescue efforts were hampered by the steep and wooded terrain of the resort region he was trekking.
