Motel Strangler Lived With His Murdered Mom for Months - NY

Oct 25, 2015

A man strangled his mom in their NY motel room this summer, then lived with her decomposing corpse for nearly two months before dumping it in South Carolina.

Troopers arrested 48-year-old Charles Cole this weekend after somebody discovered the rotting body of his 76-year-old mother, Betty, on October 17th and her death was linked to him.

A law enforcement official from New York called the suspect’s ghoulish act of matricide exceptionally “disturbing and unusual.”

Cole has been charged with second-degree murder in the strangulation death of his elderly parent on August 17th, and faces additional criminal counts for the illegal disposal of her remains several states away from the crime scene.

His wife Ronalda Cole has been charged with evidence tampering in attempting to conceal the victim’s body and her husband’s offense.

The not-so-pleasant couple from Pleasant Valley NY remain in custody at the Dutchess County Jail this weekend, in lieu of posting bail.

Other charges may be pending against them in South Carolina for transporting and unlawfully disposing of a corpse in that jurisdiction.
