NYC officials are investigating how a newborn with her umbilical cord still attached *fell* from a window several stories to her death yesterday.
Officers found the infant girl dead in the courtyard of a University Heights apartment building in the Bronx on Monday afternoon.
No arrests have been made yet, but detectives continue to question the child’s mother since she initially denied having given birth and then asserted that her baby was already dead before its seven-story plunge.
The unidentified woman is one of about 50 tenants at the housing complex. A cleaning woman came across the child’s corpse “on the floor covered in blood.”
First responders reportedly noted other signs of trauma on the newborn who was immediately pronounced dead at the scene.
