No Remorse No Motive in Broken Arrow Massacre Mystery

Jul 25, 2015

Police say there is no remorse shown and no motive known for the Broken Arrow massacre perpetrated this week by two teen relatives of the slain family.

Suspects Robert Bever, 18, and his unidentified younger brother, 16, have each been charged for fatally knifing their parents and siblings, leaving five members of their immediate family dead, and a 13-year-old sister fighting for her life.

Police apparently interrupted the latter’s slaying after responding to a dying brother’s 911 call in which he identified the family’s killers as his two older brothers.

Investigators say the eldest brother has reportedly confessed to the stabbing deaths, as part of a larger murder plot that was to extend far beyond the Bever’s home -- now a massive crime scene.

Neither accused teenager has expressed any remorse nor revealed a motive for wanting their relatives dead, and a search of their social media accounts has only deepened the mystery over the seemingly senseless acts of violence.

Both were reportedly unemployed and internet junkies, according to those acquainted with them. In fact, the Bever family itself appears to have had strong IT-industry ties, which are believed to be the source of the slain parents’ wealth.

Broken Arrow, where the Bever mass murders took place, is a stable, upscale community near Tulsa Oklahoma, and not accustomed to crimes of this nature.

Residents there describe their butchered neighbors as having been guarded to the point of antisocial, adding that all of the Bever children were homeschooled, something which likely explained why they had few if any friends outside of the home.

The Broken Arrow massacre victims include both Mr. and Mrs. Bever, 52 and 44 respectively, their sons Daniel Bever, 12, and Christopher Bever, 7, as well as daughter Victoria Bever, 5.

Their 2-year-old was found in an upstairs room unharmed.

David Bever's sister, speaking on behalf of his surviving relations, expressed profound shock and grief over her nephews’ brutality, although she too could offer no theories on what their motivations were.

"We have no idea," she told reporters.
