An Oklahoma woman who assaulted the corpse of her dead rival as it was on view in a funeral home last month was rearrested yesterday, after detectives discovered she’d also removed some organs.
Prosecutors told a judge on Monday that Shaynna Sims, 26, not only hideously slashed the face of her lover’s dead ex-girlfriend as she lay in a casket, but had sliced off her breasts and a toe as well.
Sims, who sometimes goes by the surname Smith, had originally been apprehended for the weird crime in the deceased woman’s apartment on April 30, 2015. At which time she was found to be in possession of a clump of the corpse’s hair and funeral shoes.
Later, as the vandalized dead body was being prepared for cremation, it became apparent that the mutilation the suspect inflicted on it at the wake extended well beyond just superficial facial wounds, leading to Sim’s new arrest and additional charges.
However, police indicate they’re somewhat at a loss now as to how to proceed with their investigation, since Shaynna Sims refuses to disclose what she did with the dead woman’s body parts.
The premature demise of the defendant’s perceived romantic rival is said to have been the result of a prolonged illness, but, considering how her remains were so gruesomely defiled, that death would now seem to warrant a fresh inquiry.
Both Sim’s lawyer and a husband named on her arrest report were unavailable to comment on the latest grisly revelations.
