Manuscript of Fifty Shades of Grey Sequel Stolen Says Publisher

Jun 10, 2015

A finished copy of the Fifty Shades of Grey sequel has been stolen just one week before its official release, publisher Penguin Random House reported Monday.

South England’s Kent Police Department is investigating the literary larceny of novelist E.L. James’ much anticipated follow-up to the erotic trilogy, the first three books of which have already grossed a half-billion-dollars in worldwide sales.

Detectives offered no additional details, citing their ongoing investigation, but hinted that the fourth installment of the popular S & M romance novel had been “pirated.”

Regardless, PRH also announced it will go forward with original publication plans for the Fifty Shades of Grey sequel which called for a June 18, 2015 release date -- Christian Grey's birthday.

The book burglary is astounding, but not the first of its kind:

In 2005, thieves broke into the London warehouse where hot-off-the-press copies of "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" were stored for immediate shipping, then tried to fence the pilfered editions to a number of tabloid newspapers.

This breaking news story is developing.
