The Amber Alert for a baby abducted in Iowa by his biological dad ended in tragedy this week when police found a burned out vehicle and the charred remains of the two inside it.
Infant Logan Habibovic was reported missing Tuesday night after his father Elvis Habibovic, who had joint custody of the boy, failed to return him to his mother.
Officials believe the suspected kidnapper was en route to Florida where he last lived, but evidently only drove as far as to Missouri, where he somehow killed the child and himself while simultaneously setting his car on fire.
At the time that the Amber Alert was still in effect, Missouri’s highway patrol responded to reports of a burning SUV which matched the description of the one Habibovic was believed to be driving.
Officers found the body of a baby and an adult male in it, which were later identified as the missing boy and his father.
