Cannibals Developed Immunities by Eating Human Brains

Researchers say cannibals developed immunities to certain killer diseases in the 20th-century by eating the brains of their victims

The discovery that descendants of a bloodthirsty tribe in Papua New Guinea now have a gene protecting them from fatal illnesses once contracted through eating human brains has scientists convinced a cure for sicknesses like Mad Cow Disease is on the horizon.

The cannibalistic clan known as the Fore People have been killing and consuming their neighbors for centuries, but not without the risk that they themselves would succumb to the consequences of such a depraved existence.

Now though, thanks to a fairly recent genetic mutation dubbed V127, they can once more chomp away on the bodily remains of fellow human beings -- gray matter and all -- without any fear of perishing from the distasteful practice.

Officially, the Fore tribe ceased their nasty people-eater ways in the 1950s, but in truth that was only because too many of them were dying from their brain-eating obsession, often at epidemic rates.

So, obviously, the news today that these diehard cannibals have at last developed immunity to deadly neurological diseases associated with the filthy habit is probably going to be cause for their celebration.

Whatever that entails…
