Jodi Arias Must Pay Siblings of Travis Alexander Restitution (Phoenix)

Jun 23, 2015

An Arizona court has determined Jodi Arias must pay Travis Alexander’s five siblings restitution for whatever legal fees they incurred in pursuing justice for their slain brother.

That amount, according to Maricopa County judge, Sherry Stephens, equals approximately $30,000, although it’s not quite clear how the defendant would actually pay it.

Arias is currently serving a life sentence without parole in the brutal stabbing and shooting death of 30-year-old Travis Alexander at his home in 2008.

According to the coroner’s report, she knifed him 30 times, including slitting his throat “ear to ear,” then allegedly shot him because he hadn’t died yet.

Throughout, she repeatedly contradicted herself as to how the brutal crime against her ex-boyfriend happened, but was eventually convicted of it in 2013 and sentenced this year -- after twice deadlocking a jury during the sentencing phase of her trial.

Now 34, the former waitress turned crazed femme fatale waived the right to appear at this week’s hearing over the issue of a restitution award for five relatives of her victim.

They also were not present when the judge granted them that financial relief in court yesterday.
