A missing teen from California held captive by a registered sex offender had been locked in his family’s garage where he had lured and sexually assaulted the girl.
LA County deputies arrested Kaene Dean on charges of oral copulation with a minor after they found the victim alive but imprisoned at his parents’ Santa Clarita home.
The 26-year-old man first registered as a sex offender in 2008 for indecent exposure, although records show he is presently on probation for burglary.
Dean became acquainted with the teen at an area grocery store, the last place she was known to be before her family reported her missing.
Investigators quickly deduced her abductor’s phone number and address via the missing girl’s own cell records, who, they say, the suspect lied about even knowing when they called to question him.
“He denied knowing the victim [or] her whereabouts,” said a spokesman for the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, who added that a raid of the Dean’s residence was executed at around two in the morning.
Dean’s father and mother -- who were both home at the time that officers arrived with a warrant to search their property -- were not arrested and haven’t been charged.
But their RSO son is back in jail now, and being held there on $100,000 bond.
