Survival Slim for Capsized Boys Lost At Sea (photo)

Sharks, shady ships, and saltwater are risks facing two capsized boys missing at sea for a week, after the young Florida fishermen filled a 19-foot motorboat with $100 of fuel and wandered far offshore.

Perry Cohen and Austin Stephanos have not been seen or heard from since, although their overturned craft was finally located -- with a single lifejacket still onboard.

If one or both survived the capsizing ordeal then they are adrift in troubled seas now, where pirates and sharks are not the only threats to contend with, but the very water they’re floating in.

Humans can survive up to three weeks without food, but only a few days without something to drink, and if the boys are indeed still bobbing in the salty ocean waiting to be rescued, their thirst alone could be the death of them.

In the meantime, the tedious search for the 14-year-old “experienced boaters” continues unabated, with the scope of the search area ever expanding in a race against time that grows grimmer and grimmer by the minute.
