A coked up wannabe rapper with a criminal past has been charged for stabbing Morgan Freeman’s granddaughter E’Dena Hines to death yesterday morning in front of her NYC brownstone.
NYPD officers responding to calls about a crazy man shouting religious quotes while knifing an already lifeless woman found 30-year-old Lamar Davenport in a delirious state “exorcising” the devil out of his victim.
Witnesses told the Daily Beast the suspect was observed at the bloody crime scene in Washington Heights yelling “Jesus is born -- get out, devils! I cast you out, devils. In the name of Jesus Christ, I cast you out!”
Police immediately took Davenport into custody and sent him for a mental evaluation. Hines, who suffered multiple stab wounds to her torso, was rushed to Harlem Hospital where the 33-year-old “aspiring” actor and writer was later pronounced dead.
Her deranged beau, who also goes by the rap moniker ‘Lyric’ and has two children, was charged this morning with her homicide. He has at least a half dozen, mostly drug related prior offenses and convictions.
The reportedly “ecstatic” couple had gone out with friends just hours before the fatal knifing incident occurred, but it’s not known yet what may have transpired once they returned to Hines’ home that led to such a vicious attack.
Investigators, however, hinted today the violent crime had been “drug-fuelled” and that the substance involved was cocaine-based, but provided no additional details to qualify those preliminary assessments.
Both the slain woman and her accused killer were rumored to have addiction issues, which, if true, may account for the delay in Hines’ acting career taking off, despite being the high-profile granddaughter of film star Morgan Freeman.
Since childhood, Hines and Freeman have had a very close relationship and were often photographed together at red carpet events honoring the legendary actor.
