A female action-hero-type car thief who leapt from a tall bridge into the cold San Francisco Bay to escape police last month has finally been apprehended.
Bridge-jumping daredevil, Erlynn Sanchez-Edwards, was arrested over the holiday weekend, roughly a month after pulling her awe-inspiring stunt and surviving a nearly 80-foot plunge.
The 25-year-old was being chased by patrol cars on August 12th for allegedly first stealing then crashing a vehicle on the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge.
But, when cops thought they finally had Sanchez-Edwards cornered there, the intrepid outlaw surprised them all and jumped.
Shortly after the breakneck leap, a local truck driver reported picking up and dropping off a soaking-wet young woman who matched the description of the suspect the California Highway Patrol was hunting for.
And ever since then she’s been on the run…
"I commend the CHP officers and investigators from throughout the Bay Area who performed excellent police work identifying witnesses, investigating leads, and getting the word out," boasted a Highway Patrol spokesman this week, after helping to nab Erlynn Sanchez-Edwards on an anonymous tip.
