GARFIELD PARK CRIME SCENE: We Are Gonna Find You, Say Chicago Police.

Sep 10, 2015

Chicago police working the Garfield Park crime scene where a mutilated toddler’s body parts were discovered last weekend have a message for the demented killer: “We are gonna find you.”

GARFIELD PARK CRIME SCENE: We Are Gonna Find You, Say Police.

City water crews are presently draining a lagoon where Baby Doe’s head, hands and feet were found “crudely dismembered” and in weighted plastic bags.

Earlier during the week a coroner confirmed that, whoever the mixed-race victim is, somebody viciously hacked apart the child, in an act of brutality that has left many veteran detectives sick to their stomachs.

Those partial remains are in an advanced stage of decomposition due to the heat of summer, which also explains why they surfaced so quickly -- within only one to weeks after being sunk in the murky water, according to Chicago’s medical examiner.

A sketch artist will now examine the head in order to reconstruct the butchered toddler’s facial features for posters which will be circulated throughout the city and on the internet.

Officials already know their murdered Baby Doe had black curly hair and brown eyes with un-pierced ears. The latter detail leading them to tentatively believe the victim is a boy, although that has yet to be determined.

Complete results of DNA and other forensic tests are still pending, but once these are processed it should help to narrow down the pool of possible suspects; especially if the killer is local and/or on any law enforcement databases.

And, judging from the depth of their depravity, it’s highly probable they have been arrested before.

In the meantime, detectives continue to scour the crime scene in hopes of finding the slain child’s still-missing torso and limbs, although these may in fact be at another yet unknown location.

Regardless, “we're not stopping," Chicago’s Deputy Police Chief Steve Georgas vowed. “We're doing what we can for this child, to bring resolution to this incident.”

We are going to find you.
