Police seeking to arrest a Florida woman for vandalizing her neighbor’s property with “a large knife” were stunned to find thousands of illegal blades in her house.
Nickole Dykema initially refused to let officers inside her Brooksville residence, and, once they forced entry and subdued the sword-swinging suspect, they understood why:
In addition to realistically-gory Halloween props, she had over 3500 machetes, swords, and knives in there.
All of the weaponry -- including blades arranged around a shrine -- were illegal for Dykema to own because the weird woman was already on probation for stealing sharp objects from an area store.
“She had a habit of banging on the inside of her house all the time on the walls, and screaming and hollering,” a neighbor told reporters for WTSP. “I was just petrified all the time.”
Dykema has been charged and held without bond for property damage, criminal mischief, parole violations, and assaulting an officer.
“The person was obviously dangerous to the community,” a spokesman for the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office said. “It amazes me that these deputies were able to take her into custody without anyone being injured.”
