A Kentucky woman has been arrested after deputies performing a welfare check discovered she had hogtied her dead boyfriend, covered his body with lime, and shoved it in the freezer.
Teresa Owens, 51, is in police custody today on $75,000 bond for gruesomely abusing 68-year-old Gary Jenks’ corpse, which included dousing it with a chemical powder intended to mask its putrid smell.
“Lime is sometimes used to reduce the odor from decaying flesh,” a sheriff’s spokesman explained to reporters from NBC. “Farmers sometimes put lime on dead cattle to keep the odor down.”
The victim died sometime in early September, the county coroner has stated, although the cause or manner of the man’s death hasn’t been determined yet.
His uncaring girlfriend has been charged with evidence tampering and abuse of corpse. Other charges however may be pending.
