A drunk driver plowed into spectators at Oklahoma State University’s pregame homecoming parade today, killing and injuring over two dozen people.
Witnesses to the event first saw a sedan careening into a security blockade, before continuing on toward the crowd and sending people “flying” through the air “like ragdolls.”
They said it happened so fast and unexpectedly that many of the victims didn’t have enough time to escape the vehicle’s path, while others mistakenly believed it was “part of the show.”
A police official has confirmed that four parade-goers died in Saturday’s fatal car crash, which happened only a few blocks from the OSU campus. And at least another 22 victims -- many of whom are young children -- were seriously injured.
The female motorist responsible for causing all the deadly mayhem was arrested at the scene for Driving Under the Influence and taken into custody.
Besides the DUI charge, 25-year-old Adacia Avery Chambers of Stillwater Oklahoma will likely face several counts of manslaughter and vehicular homicide, too.
