Convicted right-to-die physician Dr. Nicolas Bonnemaison was found near death in his vehicle on Saturday morning, after a deliberate overdose.
The 54-year-old E.R. doctor had just been sentenced to 2-years jail time for euthanizing one of seven terminally ill patients from 2010 to 2011 -- he was acquitted for the poisoning deaths of the other six.
France does not yet fully recognize the ‘right to die’ even if a sufferer is in tremendous pain or a vegetative state, and physician-assisted suicide is still illegal.
A hospital spokesman at the Bordeaux facility that Dr. Bonnemaison was transported to this weekend stated his condition had “stabilized.”
