Arizona authorities eager to nail their serial freeway shooter don’t seemed troubled that the suspect they’ve arrested didn’t do all or any of the crimes…
In fact, Leslie Merritt Jr. even has an alibi, made all the more airtight by witness testimony and cell phone records.
From the start, investigators claimed that the 21-year-old was “only” responsible for four of the nearly one-dozen nonfatal sniper attacks which began on Phoenix-area highways at the tail end of August.
And, since Merritt was jailed as the culprit in September and held to this day on $1-million bond, those attacks have continued unabated -- with a gun he’s repeatedly stated he hocked long ago at a local pawn shop.
Moreover, the youth “doesn't have any criminal history,” his attorney told a judge this week, in an effort to get the accused serial freeway shooter released so he can go home to his family.
“He's never been a danger before. What makes you think he would be now?”
