A toddler was literally swung to death in a Maryland public park this spring, in a bizarre incident that has just been ruled a homicide.
Officials say the 3-year-old boy found dead on a swing-set with his mentally ill mother pushing him on May 22, 2015 had apparently been alive when the two first came to the playground earlier in the week.
He died there from severe neglect.
The medical examiner who performed the boy’s autopsy indicated the victim was essentially swung to death; over the course of days gradually succumbing to both dehydration and overexposure.
His homeless mother is thought to be the only suspect in the tragic swinging baby case, but no charges have been filed against her yet, pending further review by the county prosecutor.
According to a relative, the 24-year-old woman had recently been diagnosed with an undisclosed psychiatric condition for which she had been seeking treatment.
She remains under observation.
