A Dallas County teen filmed beating a girl cradling a baby has been arrested today, after the video of her offensive crime went viral during the week.
Police say the unnamed 13-year-old turned herself in because the image of her viciously assaulting a classmate while the victim was attempting to shield an infant from harm left her with no other alternative.
The girl she brutalized was sitting outside at a table with a 3-year-old cousin when the juvenile offender attacked her, sending the toddler tumbling to the ground as she began dragging, pummeling, and kicking the 14-year-old.
Both the victim and the young child she was protecting sustained minor injuries in the assault, resulting in both misdemeanor and felony charges against their aggressor.
Whoever filmed the premeditated event -- which was later posted on LiveLeak -- can be heard actively egging on the young abuser to commit her shocking act of violence.
“Take the baby,” he yells as he’s recording. “The baby’s the reason she’s not getting beat up.”
A female voice calling for blood was also captured in the background, but now that the prime suspect filmed beating a girl cradling a baby is in police custody, officials are discussing possible charges against the anonymous participants as well.
“We have some concerns about those two,” a district prosecutor confirmed, adding “I find it concerning that young people today would videotape an attack of someone, rather than taking that phone and calling 911.”
The cell-phone video has been viewed almost a million times since it was taken on June 19th and uploaded to the web on Thursday.
