A teen who stomped a baby to death for crying while he was babysitting her this month will be tried for murder now.
Cody Feran-Baum, 17 of Minnesota, told detectives he beat, kicked, and stomped on the 2-year-old daughter of his new girlfriend because he “kinda snapped” when she wouldn’t quit sobbing.
It isn’t clear yet if he was also responsible for upsetting the child prior to perpetrating the sickening crime against her, and if so, what it was he’d done to set off an unstoppable crying fit.
But “this was a brutal beating that is almost beyond comprehension,” said Hennepin County Attorney, Mike Freeman, who intends to pursue the teenage baby-killer as an adult and demand the stiffest sentence allowable under state law.
The psychotic boy’s vicious assault on Baby Sophia split the girl’s kidney and pancreas in half, severed her liver from a connective ligament, collapsed one of her lungs, and fractured eight ribs.
She died the following day, but before that happened her sudden lethargy and ailment seemed a mystery to her 20-year-old mom, in absence of Feran-Baum’s truthfulness.
As a result, he not only brutally battered the toddler, but, in lying about it, deprived her of the emergency medical treatment that might have saved her life.
On Monday prosecutors charged the teen who stomped a baby to death merely for crying with second-degree murder.
