Georgia police arrested a 911 addict this week who bogusly called their emergency dispatch system over 150 times in the past three months.
Bibb County officials charged 41-year-old Toshiba Smith of Macon GA with abusing the 911 service, after phoning in so many false reports that officers were literally coming and going from her home simultaneously.
The suspect’s last nutty call, concerning a neighbor somehow “picking on her” via an electronic monitoring device, appears to have been the final straw leading to the 911 addict’s arrest and booking.
“Deputies have responded to Smith’s apartment sometimes back to back in one shift,” read Wednesday’s incident report.
Investigators haven’t said what Smith’s motive could have been for bugging the local police department, but suggest she might’ve had a fallout with a formerly-charitable neighbor and was attempting to vent some rage.
That 65-year-old individual -- Barbara Parham -- doesn’t believe the relentless harassment means Smith is crazy though:
“She’s a devil,” the woman stated, adding that the nonstop 911 calls were probably intended to smear Parham in the neighborhood by “getting my name in the paper.”
Whatever the reason for Toshiba Smith’s weird crime, she’s currently out of jail after posting a $1300 bond, although her telephone has been disconnected.
