The notorious gangster hasn’t seen Depp’s biography about him, but Whitey Bulger HATES the movie Black Mass anyway, or so his lawyer claims.
“Johnny Depp might as well have been playing the Mad Hatter all over again, as far as James Bulger is concerned,” defense attorney Hank Brennan informed People Magazine this week.
That’s pretty harsh -- and echoes some film critics’ assessment of BM as well -- but why wouldn’t an aged and incarcerated mob boss be impressed that a famous actor is playing him on the silver screen?
Because “Hollywood greed is behind the rush to portray my client,” Brennan said. “And the movie missed the real scourge created in my client’s case -- the real menace to Boston during that time and in other mob cases around the country.”
Wow. There’s a bigger “scourge” and “menace” than Bulger’s Winter Hill Gang, and Depp somehow omitted this from his over-the-top violent shoot-em-up about the organized crime ring.
What could that possibly be?!
“The federal government’s complicity in each and every one of those murders with the top echelon informant program.”
Aha.
