BREAKING NEWS: British police have summoned “explosive specialists” to Gatwick Airport this hour and detained at least one man on suspicion of planting a package.
Citing the Paris mass shootings and bombings yesterday by dozens of suicide-gunmen, officials have also evacuated the terminal while the facility is swept for any other devices.
Gatwick is the second biggest airport in the UK -- a law enforcement spokesman said the incident there is being treating as a bona fide threat out of an abundance of caution.
All major cities and international travel hubs are similarly on heightened alert today, following last night’s deadly series of assaults on “soft targets” at several crowded French venues, including the national stadium and the Bataclan playhouse.
Approximately 400 unarmed Parisians were killed or wounded in those attacks, and some suspected victims still remain missing.
