A suspect in the Cambridge Mass. dismemberment of a young Somerset man was ordered held on $1-million bail yesterday, as prosecutors relayed to the court the gory details of the crime he had just perpetrated.
Carlos Colina, 32, was more or less caught red-handed disposing of suitcases stuffed with severed body parts, and that included being captured on surveillance video tossing a duffle bag with the victim’s headless torso in it.
Dead by means of murder and dismemberment is 26-year-old Jonathan Camilien, who, police say, was overheard by neighbors arguing with his killer just hours before the gruesome slaying occurred.
Camilien’s mangled corpse was later found dumped at two separate locations – in the courtyard of his killer’s apartment complex and across the street at Biogen Technologies’ global headquarters.
Investigators then seeking to question Colina intercepted the suspect as he was leaving his building with a number of telltale scrapes and scratches on his face.
They also say he smelled strongly of some kind of bleaching solution, and that a search of his unit, number 305, produced a bloody hacksaw blade, rope, and cleaning supplies.
It’s believed Carlos Colina chopped up Jonathan Camilien’s body in the bathtub, but, apart from an angry dispute turned lethal, the motive for the Cambridge killing and mutilation still remains a puzzle.
