Cops Plead for Help Solving Fatal Drive-By Shooting of Toddler in NM

Oct 21, 2015

Albuquerque police are “begging for the community’s help” in apprehending the suspect who opened fire on a New Mexico interstate yesterday afternoon, killing a 4-year-old passenger.

Investigators say the fatal attack of a vehicle driving west on I-40 occurred during the start of Tuesday’s rush hour and may have been a “road rage” incident.

Both of the slain toddler’s parents were in the car and watched in horror as the unidentified motorist pulled alongside them and fired into their vehicle, shooting their daughter in the head before speeding away.

Neither could provide an accurate description of either the assailant or his truck, but the freeway was experiencing a significant amount of traffic at the time, so police are urging all witnesses to the drive-by shooting to come forward.

Somebody “had to have seen something,” a law enforcement official pleaded this morning. “Please call us!”

Tips about this crime can be submitted via the APD’s hotline at 505-242-COPS, or to 505-242-2677.
