Cowboys v Patriots Shootout: Was Gunman Egged-On by Mob?

Oct 12, 2015

Texas officials are investigating whether the Cowboys v Patriots shootout that erupted during a postgame brawl at the AT&T stadium yesterday was “egged-on” by a mob that gathered to watch the fight.

Tailgaters had quickly assembled to observe Sunday evening’s altercation between two unidentified male adults and, when one man drew a gun on the other, several rubberneckers allegedly urged him to shoot.

He did, leaving his 50-something opponent critically injured with a head wound before attempting to flee and, basically, stumbling into police and his swift apprehension.

The suspect’s injuries were relatively minor and self-inflicted -- sustained in his fall, said investigators -- but he was charged for assault with a deadly weapon and will be jailed once released from the hospital.

The shooter’s victim also remains hospitalized today. The cause of the two men’s confrontation at AT&T stadium last night, and the role a mob may have played in escalating it, is still being probed.
