A manhunt is underway for the deadly zombie gunman who opened fire on hordes of ZombieCon revelers in Fort Myers Florida yesterday.
Over 20,000 people had turned out for the city’s annual zombie fest on Saturday night. But the humorously bloody spectacle turned frighteningly real when shots rang out around the Witching Hour and people started falling.
Festival attendees fled in terror, chaotically emptying the streets as police immediately barricaded the downtown section and sought out the shooter, who still remains at large today.
One ZombieCon attendee was pronounced dead at the scene of gunshot wounds and a handful of others were rushed to the hospital for what was later deemed to be “non life-threatening” injuries.
The cause of the shooting and the identity of the shooter is still under investigation this morning, said a spokesman for the FMPD, who declined to release any of the names of the victims.
While their manhunt for the zombie gunman remains in progress, detectives are also trying to interview as many witnesses to the deadly incident as possible.
Police are additionally requesting all festival goers -- including those spectators who recorded the festival from windows and balconies -- to examine their cell phone videos for possible evidence.
